LAMDA Tuition

“Danielle’s passion and dedication are what inspire

the kids to do their very best!”

LAMDA TUITION & AWARDS

Dramarama Director, Danielle, offers one-to-one, two-to-one or small group LAMDA tuition in schools, from home and after our weekly clubs. LAMDA provides a more formal learning structure to those who would benefit from direct coaching and tutoring, or those seeking a formal recognition for their attainment in drama. We have helped over a hundred children through their LAMDA exams, with 96% of students receiving the highest grade (Distinction) and the remaining 4% achieving a Merit.

“Thank you so much for your amazing teaching and the confidence that you’ve given her!” Emma, LAMDA parent

What are LAMDA Awards?

LAMDA Awards are internationally recognised qualifications in drama, communication and performance, awarded by the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA). LAMDA tuition develops far more than acting skills. As children prepare for their exams they build:

  • Confidence and self-esteem

  • Clear communication and public speaking skills

  • Reading fluency and comprehension

  • Emotional intelligence and empathy

  • A broader vocabulary

  • Memory and recall

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Creativity and self-expression

Many parents notice that the confidence gained through LAMDA extends into school presentations, interviews and everyday communication.

Find out in THIS BLOG why Dramarama now offers LAMDA exams and what they can do for your child.

Who can take LAMDA exams?

LAMDA is suitable for children of all abilities and experience levels.

At Dramarama, we recommend Introductory Exams for younger children (typically Years 1 and 2) or those who are completely new to drama exams. Children in Year 3 and above are assessed during and initial taster session so we can recommend the most appropriate level and pathway.

Does my child need previous acting experience?

No. Many of our students begin with little or no acting experience. Tuition is tailored to each child's age, confidence and ability, allowing them to progress at their own pace.

Which LAMDA qualifications do you offer?

We currently offer:

  • Introductory Exams

  • Performance: Acting

    • Entry Level

    • Level 1 (Grades 1–3)

    • Level 2 (Grades 4–5)

Students may work as solo performers, in pairs (duologues) or, where appropriate, in small groups.

How do you decide which level my child should take?

Every child is different. Danielle assesses each student during their first session before recommending the most suitable qualification and starting point.

For some children this may be an Introductory Exam, while others may begin on the Acting pathway. Creative students who prefer devising their own work rather than learning scripts may be better suited to Mime or Devising Drama qualifications which can be discussed.

Can my child take exams with a friend?

Yes. Many children enjoy taking a Duologue exam with a friend.

While we always try to accommodate requests, both students need to be working at a similar level. If they are progressing at different rates, we may recommend a different partner or suggest the solo pathway to ensure each child achieves their full potential.
