High School Musical Jr – Dramarama’s West End Experience 2025

What an incredible two weeks we had bringing High School Musical Jr to life as part of Dramarama’s West End Experience 2025!

This year’s production was one of our most ambitious projects yet, featuring a cast of over 50 talented young performers. From day one, our aim was to ensure that every single child had the opportunity to shine — something that makes Dramarama productions so special. As well as performing in the main show, every cast member was given lines to deliver in a specially written pre-show performance, allowing each child the chance to step onto a professional stage with confidence and pride.

Our cast rehearsed from 18th–22nd August before a short Bank Holiday break, returning for intensive rehearsals from 26th–28th August in Wendover. On 29th August, the company moved into the beautiful Centenary Theatre in Berkhamsted for technical rehearsals ahead of two completely free public performances on 30th August.

The atmosphere throughout the project was nothing short of amazing. The cast worked tirelessly, supporting and encouraging one another every step of the way, creating the kind of collaborative and nurturing environment that Dramarama is proud to be known for.

The young performers were guided by an exceptional creative team:

  • Danielle, our director and a highly respected LAMDA acting coach, whose students boast a remarkable 100% pass rate and an outstanding 95% distinction rate.

  • Alana Asher, choreographer and assistant director, who began her own performing career as a child star, appearing as Little Cosette in Les Misérables in London’s West End.

  • Jill Neenan, former West End performer, who is widely recognised locally for her warm, nurturing teaching style and her incredible ability to help every child find confidence in their singing voice.

The hard work certainly paid off. We were thrilled by the fantastic turnout for both performances, and audience feedback was overwhelmingly positive. An incredible 95% of audience members rated the show 5 stars, with the remaining 5% awarding 4 stars. Even more excitingly, our recommendation survey scored exceptionally highly, with almost every response rating the experience a 9 or 10 out of 10.

More than anything, High School Musical Jr perfectly captured what Dramarama is all about: teamwork, creativity, confidence, friendship, and giving every child the chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

We could not be prouder of our cast and creative team for creating such a memorable and uplifting production.
